- On February 26, 2024, Amgen announced it opened its latest manufacturing site in New Albany, Ohio, located in Central Ohio. The recently established facility stands out as a cornerstone in Amgen's vast global operations network, representing a significant leap forward in biotechnological innovation and the most advanced facility yet in the company's history.

Embodying Amgen's steadfast commitment to advancing patient care, the facility, dubbed Amgen Ohio, epitomizes the company's dedication to delivering safe and reliable medicines to patients worldwide.

"Our new facility, known as Amgen Ohio, was designed with the latest innovation and technology to deliver safe, reliable medicines for every patient, every time,” emphasized Robert A. Bradway, Chairman and CEO of Amgen — highlighting the facility's pivotal role in addressing serious diseases globally through innovative biomedicines.

Spanning nearly 300,000 square feet, Amgen Ohio is slated to employ 400 full-time personnel. Additionally, the facility's design underscores Amgen's commitment to fostering collaboration and environmental sustainability, with open workspaces facilitating teamwork and adherence to the highest environmental standards to achieve carbon neutrality for all operations by 2027.

Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted hailed the inauguration as a triumph for advanced healthcare manufacturing and a boom for the Ohio economy, underlining the facility's significant economic impact.

"Winning this project for Ohio creates 400 high-paying jobs and a $40 million annual payroll, supporting families and further growing the Ohio economy," Husted said. “This new Ohio facility is a success story in advanced healthcare manufacturing and the made-in-America supply chain we need to live and thrive.”

Amgen underscored its dedication to community development by outlining its partnership with Columbus State Community College to inaugurate an 18-month manufacturing apprenticeship program at the facility. This endeavor seeks to broaden prospects for proficient individuals without requiring a four-year degree, foster talent, and enhance the diversity of the company's workforce.
